Journal 7

Teacher pages are a good reference for both students and parents when they're in need of contacting in the teacher or getting information about the course. I was able to find a class blog curated from a high school teacher of mine on the school website's faculty directory. He has a page for each of his classes that include due dates, assignments, and notes. His blog also provides current even stories that connect the subject matter to the real world and a tab for submitting questions. I think that this class blog is a very useful tool to help students keep up with the classwork as well as expand the ideas/knowledge they've learned in the classroom. This blog also makes it very easy for parents to contact the teacher as well as become familiar with what their children are learning.

Technology can be implemented into classrooms in many different ways and its prevalence in education will only continue to grow. I think technology would be most useful for keeping classroom materials, news, and information organized and easily accessible for the teacher, students, and parents. As a teacher in the future I would like to use a blog platform for my own classroom. As a student, class blogs were very helpful to me, my teachers, and my parents. Being able to access everything about a classroom on one page eliminates a lot of confusion, miscommunication, and other difficulties.

I did not encounter any extreme annoyances/complications while learning how to navigate PB Works. Using it first in a group setting was very useful because we were able to ask each other questions and put our thoughts together. One thing I did not like about the platform was its bland aesthetic; I find using "prettier" websites/platforms makes the work much more enjoyable and easier to do or read. In the future, as a teacher, I could see myself using PB Works to review a lesson, provide sources and activities, and outline the projects, assignments, tests, and quizzes.

  1. Hi Mary, I loved the class page that you found. The cover is really funny. That is so cool that your own teacher created a class blog. None of my teachers ever created an online blog. I too want to use some sort of blog platform when I am a teacher. Maybe a newsletter, depending on internet availability to the students and parents. Nice Work.

  2. I love that teacher webpage, the picture he used as a header is hilarious! I would like to run a website like his for my classroom, it seems super useful and user friendly. I'm sure that your website will be equally as amazing! I also didn't like the outdated feel of the PB works website; it looked like something off of Web 1.0.
